A B O U T

Virtuosic vocalist, composer and pianist Maja Mannila (FIN) establishes herself as one of the most versatile singers in music today. With her four-octave vocal range and multifaceted voice, Maja has already enchanted audiences around the world. She performs her own music  internationally with her trio and as a solo artist. 

Maja was born into the business and spent her childhood listening to, and learning from, her multi-musician parents Johanna Almark (vocalist, violinist, composer and conductor) and Kaarle Mannila (composer, multi-instrumentalist). Maja merges elements from various musical genres, whereas R'n'B is the most prominent. Big influences include EW&F, Stevie Wonder, Pat Metheny, Beyoncé and Dirty Loops. Writing her lyrics in English, Maja wants to spread a message of connection and hopes to make a change through music. 

Maja Mannila trio, with Severi Sorjonen on drums and Johannes Granroth on bass, has toured all over Finland since 2018 and actively expanded their territory abroad with performances in Sweden, Germany, Slovenia, UK, Estonia and Japan. Having arranged her material for big bands, Maja has appeared as a soloist with Lithuanian Kaunas Big Band, among others. She received international attention in Central Europe while touring with pianist Iiro Rantala's trio Flock in 2021-22. She has also performed with musicians such as Frank McComb, Richard Spaven and Joe Bowie.

Maja Mannila has produced and released both her debut Up and Down (2022) and her second album Seasons (2023) independently. Maja is also a member of Johannes Granroth's fusion band PEELA.
